Kazakhstan is piloting artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in construction project reviews through its national Unified Construction Portal (Qportal.kz), aiming to modernize regulatory compliance processes in early 2026.
The Ministry of Industry and Construction confirmed that AI algorithms will assist in verifying the completeness of submitted documentation during comprehensive project reviews, reducing manual workload for human reviewers. Over time, the technology is expected to also evaluate cost estimate accuracy and automatically flag design compliance issues with regulatory standards.
The portal already includes features such as a BIM module that allows stakeholders to view building models and related project data, streamlining visibility and transparency for all users. The initiative is part of broader digitalization plans, supported by government declarations that 2026 is the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, aiming to accelerate innovation across sectors including construction.
Why it matters:
This marks one of the first national government efforts to embed AI into regulatory review workflows — setting a precedent for how digital tools could speed up approvals and improve compliance in construction ecosystems globally.
