The Nemetschek Group has signed strategic Memoranda of Understanding with the School of Planning & Architecture (SPA), New Delhi and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar to establish AEC Centres of Excellence focused on advancing BIM-led innovation and digital capability building in India.
These Centres will integrate industry-relevant digital design tools and workflows into academic curriculums, support faculty development, and create opportunities for student internships aligned with real-world BIM practice. SPA, recognized as an Institution of National Importance, will act as a nodal hub for digital design awareness in northern India, while KIIT’s centre will focus on interdisciplinary research, practical training and industry-academia engagement.
The initiative aims to strengthen India’s digital construction ecosystem by fostering industry-aligned education, research collaboration, and workforce readiness — addressing skill gaps while amplifying BIM adoption across architectural, engineering, and construction sectors. With rapid infrastructure growth in India, these Centres are expected to produce graduates equipped with hands-on experience in digital workflows, collaboration platforms, and data-driven project delivery.
Conclusion:
This collaboration between global technology providers and top Indian institutions underscores the accelerating global focus on BIM education, digital fluency, and integrated learning pathways, helping prepare the next generation of AEC professionals.
