Unit Test Scientific (UTS) and MyCRS Unveil Breakthrough in Construction Quality Control
Malaysia has achieved a global milestone in construction technology with the launch of the world’s first AI-powered Robotic Concrete Examination System, developed by Unit Test Scientific (UTS) and deep tech startup MyCRS.
This advanced system combines robotics, AI-driven computer vision, IoT-based chain-of-custody tracking, and cloud analytics to fully automate concrete testing—from sample casting to fracture analysis. It delivers unmatched transparency, traceability, and tamper-proof data throughout the testing process, with real-time access for all authorized stakeholders.
Designed to meet the demands of increasingly complex construction, the system offers a future-ready solution for governments, regulators, and the private sector to ensure the structural integrity of infrastructure and buildings.
“Our mission is to make every concrete test transparent, traceable, and tamper-proof,” said Thomas Yap, CEO of MyCRS. The system empowers stakeholders with real-time access to quality assurance, moving beyond traditional report-based validation.
Praised by Dr Meldi bin Suhatril of Universiti Malaya as a "key step towards transparency," the innovation has attracted interest from industry leaders like Heidelberg Materials, MDC Concrete, and several accredited labs as part of their digital transformation.
“This is more than a product—it’s a testament to Malaysian innovation,” added Jeffrey Ip, Managing Director of UTS. UTS’s technology has already supported global megaprojects like KLCC, Burj Khalifa, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
With this launch, Malaysia positions itself at the forefront of construction technology, setting a new global benchmark in quality governance.
